An invitation to imagine your next journey to Canada

In Calgary, golf courses lay nestled at the foot of misty mountains and rodeos take place just outside the shadows of sky-scrapers.

Discovery (:60 / WIP) — Nick Sokoloff

It's within this surreal backdrop that we filmed our first collaboration with new Farm League signing, director Nick Sokoloff.

Expedia invited us into the early stages of development as they explored a variety of micro-stories that slowly reveal the majesty of Canada. As part of their "See Yourself in Canada" campaign, the goal was to feature uniquely Canadian landscapes and culture in a subtle and relatable way; a way that allows viewers to truly picture themselves within the experience.

"I’m drawn to subtle, human-centric moments that land in unexpectedly meaningful ways."

- Nick Sokoloff

The visual approach was rooted in intentional minimalism -- purposeful, elegant, and cinematic. At the start of each film, the intimate framing of the characters provokes a curiosity around who them and their stories. As the framing progressively widens and reveals more of their environment, we are introduced to the sense of wonder they experience in the space around them. While filming, framing was carefully considered in camera to account for UI and graphic overlays featured in the :15s and other digital OOH assets.

From the quiet moments of a young girl watching in awe as a cowgirl on horseback trots by, to a golfer hunting for his ball in an epic expanse of greenery -- each story celebrates the simple human moments found in the vastness of the unknown and the boundary-expanding power of travel.

The campaign has rolled out across broadcast and social as well as Expedia micro-sites / itineraries, Spotify ads, digital OOH across major travel hubs in North America (like JFK), and more.
