David Findlay's films are like mirrors that reflect back the intricate details of human existence. He explores relationships and experiences with earnestness, in films that straddle the line between fiction and nonfiction.
A writer-director from Quebec City, David's teenage aspirations of snowboarding professionally were cut short by injury, which redirected his path toward filmmaking. He has since hit the ground running with personal films, commercial and branded work, and music video projects that each take on the unique feeling of his film language -- a blending of raw performances, artful cinematography, and atmospheric worlds that draw you in.
David's narrative short film, 'Lay Me By the Shore,' recently won Silver at the Cannes Young Director's Awards. Other honors include Vimeo Breakout Creator of the Year in 2022, selection to SHOOT Magazine’s New Directors Showcase, Silver at Shots Awards New Director of the Year, and additional wins at the Young Director Awards in Cannes.
